Field pieces cut

Cut the dark wood components to the same angle; flip the piece over and cut it again to create a triangle with a sharp point. Several trial cuts may be necessary to set the miter stop to get the sharp point needed. The cutting angle must be the same as with the field pieces. You will need two triangles for each diamond. Sand Off Field Piece Points

Using your disc sander with a sanding stop installed, sand the angled face of the field pieces to create a flat about ¼ to ⅓ of the height of the piece. All pieces must be sanded to the same length; therefore, set the stop on the fence to prevent over sanding (Photo 35)
